Chronic bloating isn’t normal — it might be SIBO. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth occurs when bacteria that belong in the large intestine migrate into the small intestine, fermenting food prematurely and producing gas. It’s underdiagnosed in BC because breath testing usually requires a gastroenterologist referral and an in-clinic visit. This kit lets you test at home.
After drinking the included sugar solution, you collect breath samples at timed intervals over 2 hours. Elevated hydrogen or methane at specific time points indicates overgrowth. Hydrogen gas — Produced by bacteria fermenting carbohydrates. A defined rise within the testing window is consistent with hydrogen-dominant SIBO. Methane gas — Produced by methanogenic organisms, often linked to constipation-predominant symptoms (sometimes called IMO). What you’ll receive — A physician-reviewed report showing your hydrogen and methane levels at each interval, with clear interpretation of whether results are consistent with SIBO.
Available to residents across British Columbia. Your kit ships directly to your door.
